Interlocking Paver Production: From Mix Design to Export Packing

16 March 2026 · 7 min read · Qisheng Machinery

A paver plant is judged on three things a block plant is not: the appearance of the face, the consistency of the colour, and the condition of the pack when it arrives. Everything in the line exists to protect those three.

Step 1: Two mixes, not one

A colour-faced paver is made of a base mix and a thin face mix. The base mix carries the strength and can be made with cheap aggregate, fly ash and crushed quarry dust. The face mix carries the colour, uses finer and better-graded sand, and is dosed by weight. This is why a paver plant needs a planetary mixer with no dead zones and a batching machine with fast-and-slow dosing: a face mix that is not uniform produces visible colour banding on the finished product.

Step 2: Compaction, and why pressing beats vibrating for pavers

For a thin, flat, high-strength product, static hydraulic pressing gives a density gradient through the thickness that vibration cannot match. A double-direction press compacts from top and bottom at once, which is what produces sharp arrises that survive handling and a body whose strength is uniform from face to base. Working pressure in our QS800/1000/1500 double-direction series is 31.5 MPa with an 18–22 second cycle, and the machines run pallet-free.

Step 3: Curing without marking the face

Pavers cannot be stacked wet like solid bricks, because the face you spent money colouring would be printed with the texture of the pallet above. This is the reason paver plants need a layer-separated curing system, each brick stays on its own pallet through a controlled chamber, which is exactly what the QSGW high-level line is designed for.

Step 4: Strapping and wrapping for sea freight

A paver pack travels as a unit load and is judged at the destination. Two pieces of equipment do the work: a PET strapping baler with programmable tension, 200–2,500 N covers everything from a light hollow-block pack to a heavy paver pack, and a cantilever wrapping machine with top-film, which produces a pack closed on five sides so the load arrives moisture-proof, rain-proof and dust-proof. Skimp on this stage and you can lose an entire shipment to a rejected claim.

The line, in order

  • Aggregate storage → PL batching machine (fast + slow dosing) → CMP planetary mixer → paver press or block machine
  • Fresh product → high-level curing line (layer-separated, covered) → curing yard or chamber
  • Cured product → automatic cuber → PET strapping baler → cantilever wrapping machine → forklift clamp → truck or container
